SPEECH AND HEARING
In 1954, Delta Zeta’s Convention body voted to make the cause of speech and hearing our national philanthropy.

Delta Zeta members volunteer many hours for speech and hearing organizations in their communities, such as tutoring children with hearing challenges or spearheading fundraising initiatives.

Donations collected assist with speech programs and provide equipment and devices to those with hearing challenges. Funds also support programs aimed at hearing loss prevention.

In addition, Delta Zeta has national partnerships focused on speech and hearing-related causes with Starkey Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University.

HEART FOR HEARING

Delta Zeta members participate in philanthropy because it changes lives. The lives of Delta Zetas are changed through giving; which in turn changes the lives of humanitarians and the charitable organizations with whom we partner, and the lives of those who benefit from our mutual efforts.
As the only premier women’s organization with a focus on speech and hearing, we use our philanthropy to protect hearing, raise awareness of noise-induced hearing loss and to bring the gift of hearing to non-hearing people around the world. Speech and Hearing have been our philanthropy focus since 1954. And now, thanks to our partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation whose missions help the world to hear, we can use philanthropy to improve lives through spoken communications.
Our goal to raise $5,000,000 for the Starkey Hearing Foundation started with Delta Zeta’s Hike for Hearing in February 2015 and has now become Heart for Hearing. It will help  realize a dream to open speech clinics for those who have only just begun to hear.

PINK GOES GREEN
Delta Zeta Sorority members have always been citizens who are concerned for and care about their communities and the people in those communities, as evidenced from the philanthropic work begun by our Founders that carries into the many philanthropic and charitable programs the Sorority supports today. In addition, many of these members are leaders on their campuses, in their communities and in the United States.

With worldwide concern for the state of the environment, an increasing percentage of individuals feel the need to help, but many do not know how or what they can do. Delta Zeta members are working at the grassroots level to improve the environment, educate the public on what they can do and help them do it, and empower those they impact with the knowledge that just one person can make a difference to protect the environment and enrich our planet.
