November 2023 Philanthropy Spotlight The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner
The 44th annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner will offer food, fellowship, and fun for the San Antonio community on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed to prepare for the big day that will welcome thousands of guests. Omicron Alpha sister, Patricia Jimenez, carries on this legacy and feast of the heart that her father began.
Join Delta Zeta alumnae sisters on Wednesday, November 22, from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. at the Convention Center as we help to decorate for the big day. We will have sisterly fun while making a difference in our community!
To sign up to volunteer, or for more information, please contact Anna-Melissa Cavazos at [email protected] or text/call (210) 884-8602 by November 15. Our goal is to have 10 sisters volunteer, so please consider joining us!
*Carpooling to the venue is an option
August 2023 Philanthropy Spotlight School Supply Drive
With summer winding down, this means many in our community are preparing for another school year to begin. To support students in need, our alumnae women gave graciously and donated new school supplies to Catholic Charities.
May 2023 Philanthropy Spotlight Heart for Hearing Day
Delta Zeta recognizes May as Better Speech and Hearing Month that kicks off with Heart for Hearing Day on the first Tuesday each May. Sisters joined us for a virtual awareness event with University Health’s Sr. Clinical Audiologist, Karin Pedersen, on Wednesday, May 10 at 6:00 pm. Karin educated us on her work, communication strategies, the impact of hearing/ear infections of speech/language development in children, and how we can all protect our hearing.
Our sisters are sharing love this month with cards of JOY! Sisters from the Omicron Alpha Chapter at St. Mary's University and the alumnae chapter spent time at the Alumnae Brunch on Saturday, April 1, to send a message of cheer by making cards for the residents of The Waterford on Huebner. Our sisters gave graciously of their creative talents to serve others!
January 2023 Philanthropy Spotlight
"Together we can create change."
On Saturday, January 21, our alumnae women volunteered at the Texas Diaper Bank to support the organization in packing over 26,000 baby diapers to benefit people in the San Antonio area and it's surrounding communities.
In three hours, our sisters packaged 15 boxes of HEB brand diapers and 22 boxes of Cuties brand diapers. This totaled to 4,440 diapers! Each package included a note sharing that the diapers were packaged with love from Delta Zeta.
Our alumnae women gave graciously this holiday season and donated new packages of undergarments, socks, and more, to benefit women and children at The Battered Women and Children’s Shelter. All together, our sisters donated 161 pairs of socks, 56 underwear, a pair of gloves, a package of diapers, and a box of feminine products.
